Euro zone welcomes recent dollar rise - Koch-Weser
Thursday March 4, 7:35 am ET
LEIPZIG, Germany, March 4 (Reuters) - German Deputy Finance Minister Caio Koch-Weser said on Thursday the euro zone welcomed the dollar's recent appreciation from lows against the euro.
When asked after a meeting of G20 deputy finance ministers and deputy central bank governors about how he judged the recent rise of the dollar, Koch-Weser told reporters: "We (euro zone members) naturally welcome this."
Participants at the G20, which includes G7 nations and big emerging market economies such as China and India, said there was no specific discussion at the two-day meeting of foreign exchange rates apart from a wider debate on the need for flexibility in exchange rates and global trade imbalances.
The euro was trading around $1.2195 on Thursday, well below levels close to $1.2930 hit last month.
