The AUD/USD has managed to regain a foot-hold above 0.7400 after a barrier was knocked out at that level late in the US session. Traders suspect that short-term players might have positioned themselves a bit short after gold crashed lower and there was anticipation that Japanese retail accounts would sell decent amounts of AUD/JPY today. The break below 0.7400 would have encouraged shorts as well, but the lack of follow-through might be adding some frustration to the equation. There is hourly resistance around 0.7415 and more congestion is found at 0.7425/35. The AUD/USD trades 0.7404/09.
