 | | | | [ISM NON-FACTORY DATA - STEADY AS SHE GOES]
There is a slowdown in hiring, a slowdown in housing, but apparently no slowdown in the broad service sector.
The headline ISM services index stood right at its 12-month average in May, and the orders index was off by just a hair. The employment index, contradicting official stats, shows very strong job growth. The export orders index, at 64.0, is a new high. That may be more a sign of greater non-factory export penetration (structural change) than of growth in the sector, though the ISM data show very good growth in the sector as a whole. Among sectors, growth was reported everywhere by legal services.
The message is steady growth at a rapid pace. | | | | |
